PAL Kid Spotlight

Jennifer, Student at Sumner Academy

When Jennifer first came to the PAL (at her mother's insistence), she didn't recognize that many of the adults were police officers. She didn't expect them to be in plain clothes or giving her fist bumps all the time. But she was determined to stay fit and learn boxing. So she embraced every challenge at the PAL and is now one of our most inspiring students.

Discipline drives Jennifer's progress in and out of the PAL.

Still in her first year of high school, Jennifer brings discipline and an intensity of focus to all her activities.

She began fitness training at the PAL and has progressed to some of the most challenging workouts here, including Major Frank's intensive Tuesday workouts.

Her favorite program here is archery with KCKPD Officer P.J. Locke and Detective Jason Vaughan.

"She likes the discipline needed to shoot an arrow, and she likes that it's all on her," explains Officer Locke.

Jennifer brings the same focus to her studies, too. She's earning straight A's in school and already has her sights on an Ivy league college career.

We won't be surprised to see more big things from Jennifer in the future!
