The Police Athletic League of KCK board members are setting an ambitious path for progress and have a sincere dedication to the children in our community.

STEPHEN CHARBONNEAU

Board Chair

Stephen has led the Police Athletic League through a period of rapid growth in its early years. A native of the Strawberry Hill neighborhood of Kansas City, KS, Stephen recognized the need to support youth in blighted areas of the urban core and became a founder of the PAL in KCK.

Stephen has spent 30 years as an educator, with the last 11 as Chair of the Theology Department at Rockhurst High School. He is also the special teams coordinator for the Rockhurst varsity football team.

Following a successful career in advertising and marketing, Nicole now volunteers for community organizations. Nicole values her connection with the PAL as an opportunity to make meaningful connections with young people.

Dickinson Financial Corporation

Paul is President and CEO of Dickinson Financial Corporation, a holding company for two separately chartered national banks, Academy Bank and Armed Forces Bank. He also serves on many civic boards. He and his wife have four children.

P.J. Reardon Business Consulting

P.J. recently retired from owning a business for more than 20 years. He now oversees the PAL's accounting operation. He and his wife enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Tomasic

Executive Director

Matt Tomasic founded the Police Athletic League of KCK in 2017, and has been the executive director since then. A native of the Strawberry Hill neighborhood of KCK, Matt is a retired KCMO police officer. He and his wife have three children.

Ralph Lewis Law

Ralph is a lifelong area resident and has practiced law in Missouri and Kansas for the last 40 years. After an introduction from a mutual friend, Ralph was immediately impressed with the devotion and energy of the PAL staff and board. As a board member, Ralph believes the personal rewards have been huge, and he has enjoyed getting to know other board members. He says, “it is obvious that everyone involved in this wonderful endeavor is doing it for all the right reasons…and focused on providing a better life for those less fortunate.”

Meyer

Attorney, USD 500

Casey Meyer has lived and worked in Kansas City, Kansas since 2006, where she started as a prosecutor in the Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office, then moved to the Unified Government Legal Department where she served as the legal advisor for the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department since 2016. Since 2023, she has served as a legal advisor USD 500 for Title IX compliance and other issues. “I think the mission of fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and kids within our community is very important.”

Lenexa Police Dept.

Major Ise is Commander of Support Services for the Lenexa, KS Police Department. Frank has volunteered as an instructor and mentor in weekly physical fitness classes at the PAL in KCK since 2019.

Ed is the CFO of Bardavon Health Innovations, a company specializing in workforce physical and occupational therapy programs. He is a graduate of K-State and serves on the University's Dept. of Finance board.

Sims

Kansas City, KS Police Dept.

Lt. Col. Sims has served with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department for more than 25 years, and currently oversees the Services Bureau. A lifelong resident of Wyandotte County, Lt. Col. Sims attended Rockhurst High School and Washburn University. While working at East Patrol and in Community Services, he led youth outreach initiatives and became interested in the KCK PAL program and the work that the officers, PAL partners and the kids have been doing at the PAL. Lt. Col. Sims enjoys his board service and connecting the police department, community and local youth through the PAL.

BASYS Processing, Inc.

Brad is the founder and CEO of BASYS Processing, Inc., one of the nation's largest merchant payment processors. He also is President of Bobo Co. Development, which owns and operates apartments in KC. His companies prioritize giving back as a core value. Brad enjoys tennis and coaching youth sports. He and his wife have three sons.

CFO of FairWave Holdings

Matt Druten, a Kansas City, KS native, attended local schools before earning an Accounting degree from the University of Kansas. In 2012, he led the effort to rebuild the 3&2 baseball fields into the KCK RBI fields, using baseball to provide mentorship and academic support for inner-city youth. Druten began his career as a CPA at Deloitte & Touche and later served as president and CFO of Freightquote. He co-founded Edison Spaces and Menlo Food Labs. He is currently CFO of FairWave Holdings, overseeing a growing portfolio of specialty coffee brands, including Roasterie, Messenger Coffee, Filling Station Coffee, Black Dog Coffee, and IBIS Bakery.

Robert

Conchola Jr



Robert Conchola Jr., a Kansas City, Kansas native, has dedicated much of his life to supporting local youth and families. As President of Little League Football for 10 years, he ensured every child had the opportunity to participate. Robert’s ties to KCK include fond memories of wrestling at Memorial Hall and teaching boxing at his uncle’s gym. With nearly 30 years in manufacturing, he’s now Director of Operations at Marvin Windows and Doors. In early 2024, Robert led the construction of a new 400,000-square-foot facility in KCK, creating 700 jobs and supporting the community’s growth.

Patterson-King



Rogeana Patterson-King, a retired federal law enforcement officer with 28 years of service, including 23 with the DEA, continues to serve her community. Rising to Assistant Special Agent in Charge, she led a District Office. Rogeana empowers youth through keynotes like "I’m A B.O.S.S" and "T.A.K.E Back Our Kids," addressing illicit drugs and online dangers. As a life and leadership coach, she helps clients uncover their purpose and achieve transformation. Dedicated to giving back, Rogeana works closely with the Kansas City, Kansas community, mentoring youth and guiding them through life's challenges.

NorthPoint Development

John Thomas, Vice President of Development at NorthPoint Development, joined the company in 2014 as part of the development team. With over 11 years in project management and executive roles, he has contributed to the company’s growth in Kansas City, Reno, Denver, and other markets. Before NorthPoint, John spent 18 years in geotechnical engineering, including 10 years as Senior Principal at Terracon Consultants. Beyond his professional career, John is committed to community engagement, actively supporting PAL youth programs by providing weeknight meals and serving on the PAL Director of Fundraising selection committee, helping create a supportive environment for local kids.
