Since 2022, AAA Kansas and AAA Missouri have partnered with PAL KCK to support our free Driver’s Education program. Through funding and vehicles, they’ve helped us reach hundreds of teens in the urban core of Kansas City, Kansas, giving them access to life-changing skills and opportunities.
Historical Change
Driver’s education has historically been inaccessible for many urban youth due to high costs. By removing this barrier, the PAL KCK program ensures that all Kansas teens—regardless of income—can gain essential driving skills and the freedom that comes with a license.
Crime Prevention
Learning to drive is also about building responsibility. Teens develop discipline, focus, and accountability, which keeps them engaged in positive activities and away from negative influences in the community.
Police-Led Mentorship
Kansas City, Kansas police officers provide one-on-one drive time and mentorship throughout the program. These relationships foster trust, guidance, and meaningful connections between youth and law enforcement, making the program about much more than driving.
Completely Free
The Driver’s Ed program is entirely free for students. In exchange, participants complete 30 hours of community service at the PAL, learning responsibility and the value of giving back while contributing to the local community.
Clear Impact
Thanks to the support of AAA Kansas and AAA Missouri, more than 450 students have earned their driver’s permits and licenses through the program. Beyond learning to drive, participants gain confidence, independence, and practical skills that prepare them for school, work, and everyday life.
